Allie Reynolds went the distance and Phil Rizzuto had 4 hits and scored 3

Steady Eddie Lopat stopped the Phillies on 3 hits to give the Bombers their first win in the Series
.They still have a huge hill to climb as they find themselves trailing 3 games to 1.

Ed Lopat tossed a fine 3 hitter and right fielder Hank Bauer hit a homerun and
had 5 RBI as the New York Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies by the
score of 10 to 1 at Yankee Stadium.
The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Bauer. He banged out a single scoring two baserunners in the 1st
inning, slapped a one-base hit in the 3rd inning and belted a three-run homer
(his 1st of the season) in the 7th inning. New York finished with 11 hits in
the victory.
The victory was credited to Lopat(1-0) who went the distance, allowing 1 run.
Robin Roberts(0-1) was tagged with the loss.
