The 1950 World Series will head back to Shibe Park and Philadelphia as the Yankees jumped out early with 3 runs in the first and never lost the lead.Allie Reynolds went the distance for the win.The series stands now at 3 games to 2 Phillies.

Allie Reynolds went the distance and Phil Rizzuto had 4 hits and scored 3



times at Yankee Stadium where the New York Yankees beat the Philadelphia

Philadelphia fell behind quickly as the New York offense came through in the



first inning scoring 3 runs utilizing 3 base hits. Rizzuto opened up the



inning nicely when he slapped a base-hit. Jerry Coleman was next and he



delivered a single. John Mize then clubbed a three-run home run (his 2nd of



the season). New York had a total of 9 hits for the game.

LOPAT'S 3 HITTER,BAUER'S HR,5 RBI'S KEEP YANKEES ALIVE AS THEY CRUSH PHILLIES10-1 IN GAME 4


Steady Eddie Lopat stopped the Phillies on 3 hits to give the Bombers their first win in the Series .They still have a huge hill to climb as they find themselves trailing 3 games to 1.
Both teams find themselves at a disadvantage for game 5 at Yankee Stadium as both Yogi Berra and Del Ennis may be done for the remainder of the series.
"A crushing blow,but we've done it before"said Eddie Sawyer,Phillies Mgr., referring to closing out the season without Andy Seminick and Willie Jones.

Ed Lopat tossed a fine 3 hitter and right fielder Hank Bauer hit a homerun and



had 5 RBI as the New York Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies by the



score of 10 to 1 at Yankee Stadium.







The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance



provided by Bauer. He banged out a single scoring two baserunners in the 1st



inning, slapped a one-base hit in the 3rd inning and belted a three-run homer



(his 1st of the season) in the 7th inning. New York finished with 11 hits in



the victory.







The victory was credited to Lopat(1-0) who went the distance, allowing 1 run.



Robin Roberts(0-1) was tagged with the loss.
