Al Downing(9-5) was on top of his game in New York as he tossed a beauty of a
no-hitter against the Baltimore Orioles. The New York Yankees won by a score
of 3 to 0.

Downing had an evening to remember. Heck, it's one we'll all remember! What a
game at Yankee Stadium! He walked 4 Baltimore batters. The tension started
to build around the 6th inning. By the 9th inning the crowd was electrified.
New York managed 8 in their victory.

Milt Pappas(9-8) took the loss. He pitched 7 innings and surrendered 7 hits
and 1 walk. What a show!' Yogi Berra said. 'Downing was great out there --
I'm happy that he got it.'
