Ellis Kinder(7-4) and Ed Lopat(6-4) treated the Boston fans to a fine pitching
duel at Fenway Park. The Boston Red Sox eventually emerged as victors over
the New York Yankees by the score of 1 to 0.
The game's only run was scored in the 5th inning. New York threatened in the
9th but their rally came up short.
Mickey McDermott recorded his 3rd save. Joe McCarthy was in a talkative mood
in the clubhouse, 'Great game! If only we could win all of the close ones -
wouldn't that be nice! Since that's not going to happen, I think I'll savor
this one for a little while.'

John Mize went deep and had 3 RBI and Vic Raschi tossed a complete game
shutout at Fenway Park as the very potent New York Yankees belted the Boston
Red Sox by the count of 11 to 0.
Raschi(7-5) was very good in the win. He allowed just 5 hits and 4 walks in 9
innings seeing his ERA drop from 3.32 to 3.08. New York had 12 hits for the
afternoon.
Willard Nixon(4-2) suffered the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners
giving up 8 hits and 6 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
