Ed Lopat was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete

game and first baseman Tommy Henrich lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and

had 4 RBI as the powerful New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox by the

score of 5 to 2 at Yankee Stadium.

 

Lopat(7-4) earned his pay with a solid performance for New York.  He was

reached for 8 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings.  New York had 9 hits for the

afternoon.  

 

Chuck Stobbs(4-4) took the loss.  New York scored big getting 5 runs off him

in 4 innings.
