Yogi Berra rocketed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Yankee Stadium as the New York

Yankees beat the Detroit Tigers by the count of 7 to 4.



The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance

provided by Berra. He smashed a two-run homer in the 1st inning and smashed

a two-run homer (his 26th of the season) in the 8th inning. New York

finished with just 6 hits in the victory.



Joe Page(4-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing no

runs. Paul Calvert(1-9) ended up with the loss in relief. He pitched 1

inning giving up 2 hits and no walks.
