Eddie Robinson smashed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Comiskey Park as the
Chicago White Sox won a thriller over the New York Yankees in, 6 to
4.
Chicago came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning with 2 runs on 2
hits. After an out was recorded, Nellie Fox started the attack as he
delivered a one-base hit. Robinson followed and he popped a two-run clout
over the fence (his 20th of the season) giving Chicago the victory as 4,838
happy fans celebrated wildly. Chicago rapped out 9 hits for the night.
The victory went to Milt Haefner(1-1) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs. Tom
Ferrick(9-3) absorbed the loss in relief. He surrendered 3 hits and 2 walks
in 1 and 1/3 innings.
'Actually, I didn't feel that comfortable at the plate today' Robinson said
after the game. 'Despite that, I'm happy with the results!
