Whitey Ford carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning as the spectacular New
York Yankees defeated the Washington Senators by the score of 10 to 1 at
Griffith Stadium.
Ford(13-1) was simply too much for the Washington batters. He gave up just 3
hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. The left-handed Ford had his no-hit bid broken
up by Irv Noren who singled with one out in the 7th inning. New York rapped
out 12 hits for the afternoon.
The loss was charged to Bob Kuzava(9-11). He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings and
surrendered 4 hits and 4 walks.
