Hank Bauer went yard and had 4 RBI at Fenway Park as the very talented New
York Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox 11 to 4.
Bauer had a big day with his bat. He slapped a single in the 3rd inning,
bombed a two-run dinger (his 16th of the season) in the 5th inning and
doubled scoring two baserunners in the 9th inning. New York had 15 hits
overall, while Boston had 7.
Ed Lopat(15-6) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing 4
runs. Chuck Stobbs(4-11) ended up with the loss. He got hit pretty hard,
allowing 9 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings.
