separated the combatants at game's end. The Chicago White Sox won by the
slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.
Chicago came up with 3 runs in the 5th inning. The key at-bat was by Chico
Carrasquel who excited the crowd when he lost the ball over the fence for
three runs (his 4th of the season). Luis Aloma earned the save with a
perfect ninth, his 3rd save.
Randy Gumpert(7-3) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 6 innings. Tommy
Byrne(11-4) ended up with the loss. With this win, Chicago has a 39-58
record. They have been 5-5 lately. With the loss New York now has a record
of 67-27.
