It was a real barn-burner day in Shibe Park as New York Yankees finally pulled

ahead to stay, winning a very exciting game by a New York Yankees to 13

score.

The Philadelphia fans didn't appreciate the big day Jerry Coleman had. He

tripled in the 4th inning, depressed the partisan hometown fans with a grand

slam home run (his 3rd of the season) in the 5th inning and lined a single in

the 9th inning. New York bats were very productive in the 5th inning when

they had 4 runs on 3 hits and the 8th inning plating 4 runs. A wild and

woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.

Tom Ferrick(8-2) allowed 3 runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory. Joe

Page recorded his 9th save. Joe Coleman(0-3) was given the loss in relief.

He allowed 1 hit and 2 walks in 2/3 of an inning.

Elmer Valo had 4 hits and 5 RBI for Philadelphia but his effort was wasted in

the loss.
