Gene Woodling smacked 2 triples and had 5 RBI as the New York Yankees topped

the St. Louis Browns by a score of 9 to 6 at Sportsman's Park.



Woodling had a big day with his bat. He tripled with all three runners coming

home in the 6th inning and tripled bringing in two baserunners in the 7th

inning. The teams had been locked in a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.



Tommy Byrne(11-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing
