Catcher Yogi Berra had 4 hits and 3 RBI and Allie Reynolds carried a no-hitter

into the 8th inning as the New York Yankees topped the St. Louis Browns by a

score of 4 to 0 at Sportsman's Park.

Berra enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He tripled in the 1st inning,

stroked a one-base hit in the 5th inning, lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his

19th of the season) in the 7th inning and laced a base-hit in the 8th inning.

New York had a total of 15 hits for the game.

For Reynolds(9-4) it was his 3rd shutout this year. The right-handed Reynolds

lost his no-hit bid when Frankie Gustine singled with two outs in the 8th

inning. Harry Dorish(1-9) was hit with the loss. He got hit hard, allowing

15 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings.

Reynolds was humble when questioned about his performance, 'Well, I felt

pretty confident in my pitches tonight. But, I had great support behind me

and I just threw what was called. That was an extremely well called game!'
