Billy Johnson had 4 hits and 6 RBI at Yankee Stadium as the New York Yankees

embarrassed the league door-mat Philadelphia Athletes by the lopsided score

of 17 to 3.

Johnson was a one-man wrecking crew. He lined a base-hit plating two runs in

the 2nd inning, slapped a single plating two runs in the 3rd inning, tripled

which was good for two runs in the 6th inning and delivered a one-base hit in

the 8th inning. New York kept the scorekeepers busy in the 2nd inning when

they had 5 runs on 5 hits and the 6th inning which saw them plate 8 runs on 5

hits. New York out-hit Philadelphia for the game, 15 hits to 6.

The win went to Tommy Byrne(12-5) who allowed 3 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings. Bob

Hooper(3-9) was hit with the loss. He surrendered 5 runs in 1 and 1/3

innings and saw his ERA increase from 4.28 to 4.75.

'Some days it just all comes together, and this was one of them' Johnson said.

'I've been seeing the ball pretty well lately.'
